Democrat voters believe the party has no clear leadership, more than six months after Kamala Harris’s disastrous election defeat.
According to a new poll, Democrat voters simply don’t know who’s in charge of their party.
Democrat voters were asked, “Which of the following do you consider to be the leaders of the Democratic Party today?”
The “winner” of the poll, with a measly 11% of the votes, was Kamala Harris, who has yet to confirm her future plans since losing the 2024 presidential race. She has floated the idea of creating a new think tank, as well as running for governor of California to replace Gavin Newsom.
In second place, with 10%, was Chuck Schumer, who has come under pressure to resign as Senate Minority Leader after he allowed President Trump’s six-month spending bill to pass, back in March.
Barack Obama got 9% of the votes, followed by Cory Booker (8%), Hakeem Jeffries (8%), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (7%), Bernie Sanders (6%), Joe Biden (5%) and Gavin Newsom and Josh Shapiro, who both received 3% support each.
Just 1% of voters identified Kamala Harris’s running-mate Tim Walz as the party’s current leader.
Overall, 22% of Democrat voters said they don’t know who the party’s leader is.
In other surveys, a majority of Democrat voters have said they are dissatisfied with their party’s current lack of leadership and its approach to Trump. Sixty-six percent of Democrats in one poll said their party’s handling of Trump made them feel “frustrated.”
