A 41-year-old Senegalese migrant has confessed to the murder of Federico Perissi, a 45-year-old Italian security guard whose body was found dumped near Lake Bilancino in Mugello.
The man’s confession led police from the Florence and Ferrara mobile squads to the location in the early hours of Tuesday, where they recovered Perissi’s body in the mud, under heavy rain.
According to La Nazione, the victim had been beaten and then shot before being buried.
The motive for the killing is still under investigation. Police confirmed that Perissi and the suspect knew each other and had been traveling together by car along Via del Lago. They were reportedly headed toward the highway, and a suitcase was found inside the vehicle. Authorities are working to determine whether the weapon used in the shooting belonged to Perissi — who was off duty at the time — or if the suspect had brought it with him.
Following the murder, the suspect allegedly buried the body at the lake, fled the scene via the A1 motorway, and later crashed the car into a ravine. He continued on to Ferrara, where he is accused of committing a robbery before being arrested. During questioning, he admitted to the killing and directed police to the burial site.
The suspect had previously been arrested in Florence in recent weeks for an attempted kidnapping near a nightclub in the Novoli area.
The investigation remains ongoing.
