CBS News on Saturday interviewed a “scared” USAID worker who claimed the Trump administration is putting agency staffers in danger after having DOGE audit its systems.
In an apparent effort to run cover for the embattled agency and discredit the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), anchor Margaret Brennan interviewed a USAID staffer who wished to remain anonymous, claiming she was frightened that Elon Musk may “dox” her.
The USAID employee described the “atmosphere of fear” and “massive insecurity” that DOGE had created within the agency by accessing its internal systems, shutting down the agency and exposing its multi-billion dollar funding for liberal pet projects.
“Why in our conversation do you think you need to remain anonymous?” Brennan asked.
“It has been a very hard, a very hard week,” the USAID employee replied. “Personally. Professionally, as I said, I live in Washington, D.C. Many of my colleagues work in this field. Starting from January 21st, so the first day of the new administration, things started to go sideways very quickly.”

While legacy media is actively investigating and doxxing DOGE employees, they respect the USAID employee’s wish not to be publicly named.

“The atmosphere of fear that was in the USAID building, which we’re no longer in, the atmosphere of fear, in terms of not knowing who was in the building, not knowing what their motivations were, not knowing if our emails or channels were safe, not knowing how to interpret these executive orders right around DEIA or administration priorities,” she continued, adding that “everyone is really scared.”
Brennan went on to ask USAID staffer if she was afraid of Musk doxxing her.
“When you say doxxed, there is fear of public sharing of your name and possibly targeting?” she asked.
“Absolutely,” the USAID employee said. “I mean, at this point, those members, including Elon Musk, have access to not just the data within the USAID world. And the USAID system, which includes my personal email address, my Social Security number, my entire security file in that security file is every contact I’ve ever known, every country I’ve traveled to, every home address I’ve had. So no matter which way I look at it, my information is entirely compromised and it’s in hands that I don’t know and don’t trust.”
The USAID staffer went on to condemn the “dangerous”, “illegal” and “cruel” actions of DOGE, which she claimed were comprised of “rogue few individuals.”
“And so to have this sort of- to be vilified by a billionaire who has decided that he’s unilaterally going to take help away from the poorest people in the world, and he’s doing it on behalf of the American people is particularly gross and horrifying,” she continued. “And I am angry. I am sad, I am devastated for my colleagues, for myself, for my family, and for the American people.”
The sympathetic interview portraying the anonymous USAID employee as a potential doxxing victim is particularly egregious given the legacy media had already actively doxxed the six members of DOGE last week, which Musk called a “crime.”
Ed Martin, who was appointed by President Trump last month as U.S. attorney of the District of Columbia, said in a in letter to Musk that the DOJ would would pursue charges against anyone who impedes DOGE, citing the fact its members had recently been “targeted publicly.”
“Any threats, confrontations, or other actions that in any way impact their work may break numerous laws,” Martin wrote.
