The official Department of Homeland Security đ account countered a pair of stories being pushed by mainstream media outlets trying to demonize the Trump administration’s deportation efforts.
One media hoax narrative focused on a Harvard scientist who allegedly “could change cancer diagnostics” being detained by ICE.
Responding to an NBC News hit-piece titled, “New images could change cancer diagnostics, but ICE detained the Harvard scientist who analyzes them,” DHS clarified, “The individual was lawfully detained after lying to federal officers about carrying substances into the country.”
30-year-old Russian-born Harvard scientist Kseniia Petrova allegedly tried to smuggle “undeclared petri dishes, containers of unknown substances, and loose vials of embryonic frog cells,” through customs without declaring them or obtaining proper permits.
“She knowingly broke the law and took deliberate steps to evade it,” Homeland Security wrote.
Meanwhile, outlets such as The Verge ran a headline reading, “ICE arrested a Harvard scientist working on groundbreaking cancer research,” to misrepresent the detainment.
In another example of establishment media spreading false narratives, the New York Post wrote, “German teens traveling to US jailed and booted after loosely planned vacation deemed âsuspicious.â“
Of course, it was more than a “loosely planned vacation” that landed the foreign visitors in trouble as they reportedly lied about briefly visiting the U.S. and instead planned on working.
“These travelers werenât deportedâthey were denied entry after attempting to enter the U.S. under false pretenses,” DHS wrote, adding, “One used a Visitor visa, the other the Visa Waiver Program. Both claimed they were touring California but later admitted they intended to workâsomething strictly prohibited under U.S. immigration laws for these visas.”
The Post deleted the đ post of their article that the DHS account responded too, but the article remains live on the outlet’s website.
The Trump administration isn’t letting the media get away with its misleading stories attempting to propagandize the public into decrying ongoing deportation operations.
