Kamala Harris is no longer the Democrats’ top contender for 2028, according to new polling data.
In the latest poll from AtlasIntel, Harris has fallen into third place as the choice for the Democrat challenger in the 2028 presidential race, with 16.6% of votes.
She was beaten by New York Congresswoman Alexander Ocasio-Cortez, on 19.4%, and former transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg, who won a surprising 31.5% of the vote.
Buttigieg ran for the Democrat nomination in 2020 and won 17% of the vote before dropping out and giving his endorsement to Joe Biden.
So far, he has made no indication of an intention to run.
In a Substack Live interview recently, he said “any kind of decision process there is a long way off.”
Among the remaining candidates in the new poll, Senator Corey Booker won 10% of the votes.
Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro and Gretchen Whitmer all polled at less than 10%.
Respected pollster Nat Silver described AtlasIntel as the most accurate polling company during the 2024 election.
