Multiple patrol cars were damaged during a riot in New York City that broke out when police arrived at the scene of a ‘street takeover’ this weekend, according to reports.
The shocking incident unfolded at around 1 a.m. on Sunday in Queens.
NYPD officers responded to an intersection on Rockaway Boulevard in Ozone Park where “rowdy brutes” were blocking traffic and performing dangerous stunts, the New York Post reports.
Brazen thugs began throwing projectiles at police vehicles before climbing and jumping on them while smashing windows with traffic cones and other objects.
Footage of the rampage has been circulating on social media.

Officers can be seen trying to carefully navigate through the violent mob before being forced to drive more aggressively to escape.
Three NYPD vehicles were damaged during the fracas.
“Last night in Queens, we arrested several individuals for crimes that endangered our cops and our streets. Rest assured, we’ll be back soon for the rest of them,” New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced on Sunday night.

Many of the suspects were wearing masks, which will likely make them harder to identify.
