Vigilant good samaritans are credited with subduing a man who went on a drug-fueled rampage stabbing seven people in Washington, DC, on Thursday.
Police say the man was in an “altered state of mind” due to an unknown substance when he suddenly stabbed himself and a female friend, before attacking a woman and her two granddaughters.
“The grandmother and her granddaughters were getting into a car, primarily minding their own business,” DC Police Chief Pamela A. Smith told reporters.

The attacker went on to stab two Good Samaritans who were able to take him down and detain him until police arrived.

The perpetrator sounds to be a drugged up mentally unwell person.

One witness on the scene describing a second-hand account said he was told, “We have a bunch of guys down here that beat the shit out of him.”
“We didn’t just call police and wait for them to show up to apprehend individuals, the neighbors actually physically did it themselves,” witness Salvador Saucedo Guzman told the media, adding, “and sometimes that effort’s needed to stop acts of violence in real time.”
“He chose the wrong block to come on,” Guzman added. “We put him down.”
The police chief thanked the men who intervened for their actions, but warned the public against confronting armed attackers, pointing out, “These two individuals, although good Samaritans, were also stabbed as part of this assault.”
