A DoorDash driver is facing a slew of charges after he and an accomplice attacked the owner of a Mexican restaurant in Michigan last week, authorities say.
Police responded to Amigo’s Tacos in St. Clair Shores at around 7 p.m. on Saturday after the victim called 911.
Jose Perez, owner of the eatery, told local media a food delivery driver arrived at his restaurant to pick up an order, but first headed to the bathroom, which was not operational.
Perez said he told the deliveryman the restroom was unusable as critical water pipes were not connected, but the driver went in anyways.
The business owner decided to move the waiting food so the driver couldn’t collect it, sparking an altercation caught on surveillance camera.

“So he grabbed the food and threw it on the ground. And he started to act so violent. That’s when I picked up the phone to call 911,” Perez told WXYZ.
The driver proceeded to smash a window while exiting the restaurant, prompting Perez to call DoorDash to report the incident.
While he was on the phone, the driver and another male suspect stormed back into the taco joint.
One of the men jumped over the counter and both suspects proceeded to brutally beat Perez and stomp on him after he was knocked to the ground, footage shows.
St. Claire Shores police later arrested the driver, identified as 20-year-old Daveon Jahmel Godbold.
Godbold was arraigned on Tuesday on charges that include unarmed robbery, resisting arrest, malicious destruction of property valued between $200 and $1,000, aggravated assault, and delivery and manufacture of marijuana.
Godbold was ordered held on $25,000 bond and under instructions to wear a GPS monitor if he posts bond.
The suspect is representing himself, according to court records reviewed by The Detroit News.
Godbold’s accomplice remains at large at the time of this writing.
