A vessel carrying nearly two dozen illegal aliens from China and Mexico was intercepted in California waters this week.
The interdiction took place on Wednesday evening near San Diego.
A Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations patrol aircraft spotted a suspicious vessel in the Pacific Ocean and alerted U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Sector San Diego.
A small boat crew launched from USCG Cutter Haddock and intercepted the 30-foot panga-style watercraft after dark some 21 miles west of Point Loma.

“All 20 adult aliens were taken into custody; 17 males and three females claiming Mexican and Chinese nationalities,” USCG explained in a press release.
The foreign nationals were brought ashore and transferred to custody of U.S. Border Patrol.
USCG continues to catch illegal aliens attempting to land on California shores.
On Feb. 9, USCG apprehended 12 Mexican illegals aboard a sail boat near Point Loma.
USCG, CBP continue enforcing maritime security and immigration laws. A 25' sailboat was sighted off the coast of Point Loma. USCGC Petrel's crew members found 12 aliens and transferred them to Imperial Beach Border Patrol.
